About the course

Shoden is the first level of Jikiden Reiki training and is open to anyone with no prior experience required.

In this course, you will learn the background and history of Reiki, the teachings of Mikao Usui, the Gokai (Five Principles), and their significance within Japanese Reiki practice. The focus at this level is on developing practical skills and understanding to support physical wellbeing, from everyday minor issues to longer-standing conditions.

You will learn how to sense Byosen (areas of imbalance), receive a Shirushi (symbol), and practise techniques such as Ketsueki Kokan Ho (Kekko) to support circulation and the body’s natural processes. The course also includes Reiju and explanations of important Japanese terms used in Jikiden Reiki.

Over the two days, you will receive Reiju three times, enabling you to practise Reiki for your own wellbeing and for others.

You will receive

• An official Jikiden Reiki training manual and supporting handouts
• A Japanese-style certificate and an English-style certificate issued by the Jikiden Reiki Institute in Japan
• Registration as a Jikiden Reiki practitioner with the Jikiden Reiki Institute in Kyoto, Japan
