About the course
Shoden is the first level of Jikiden Reiki training and is open to anyone, with no prior experience required.
In this course, you will learn the background and history of Reiki, and the teachings of its founder, Mikao Usui. The course introduces the Five Principles (Gokai) and their significance, and focuses on developing practical skills and understanding to support physical wellbeing, from everyday minor issues to longer-standing conditions.
You will learn how to recognise and work with Byosen (areas of toxicity or imbalance), developing sensitivity to guide Reiki practice. You will also receive a Shirushi (symbol) and practise techniques such as Ketsueki Kokan Ho (Kekko) to support circulation and the body’s natural processes. The course includes Reiju, along with explanations of important Japanese terms used in Jikiden Reiki.
Over the two days, you will receive Reiju three times, enabling you to practise Reiki for your own wellbeing and for others.
You will receive
• An official Jikiden Reiki training manual and supporting handouts
• A Japanese-style certificate and an English-style certificate issued by the Jikiden Reiki Institute in Japan
• Registration as a Jikiden Reiki practitioner with the Jikiden Reiki Institute in Kyoto, Japan
